A story about ordinary people whose lives change in about twelve minutes. The beginning of the war marks a time of deportations to remote and ominous regions of the Soviet Union for the eastern border. A promising actress, happily married to a doctor and social activist; a playful, carefree saxophonist; twin sisters whose father disappears without a trace; a boy who takes care of his blind grandfather; and a young married woman raising a daughter. One day, all these people are united by a single event: deportation into the unknown, into a world where only death is omnipresent and life becomes a struggle for survival. Will they manage to cope in this inhumane land without losing their humanity? Or will their animal instincts prevail, allowing them to survive until the next day?.
