Autumn milk

A Lower Bavarian village at the beginning of the 20th century: after the death of her mother, Anna, who is only eight years old, has to take care of the farming household of the family of nine as a matter of course. Years of self-sacrifice, hardship and deprivation begin. Nine years later, she meets and falls in love with Albert, a young farmer. Although she wanted to become a nurse, she moved onto his farm after the wedding and became a farmer's wife. Her tyrannical mother-in-law makes her life hell right from the start, and Albert is soon called up as a soldier in the Second World War. Anna, who is now pregnant, has to cope with the hard physical labour on the farm all by herself and . Between the agony of labour and loneliness, Anna can only hope that Albert will return one day.
