In the middle of the vast ocean lies Lummerland, an island with two mountains, ruled by King Alfons the Quarter-to-Twelve. The king enjoys nothing more than talking on the phone with his subjects. These include Mr. Ärmel, who is passionate about photography, Mrs. Waas, who runs the only general store on the island, and of course Lukas the locomotive driver and his engine Emma. The Lummerlanders don’t have much variety on their small island—until one day the postman delivers a package containing a small black baby.
