Alexander Granach's life journey is unique: As the ninth child of a Jewish Orthodox farming family, he fights his way from the Galician shtetl to Berlin. There, his greatest dream comes true: he, the baker's apprentice Granach, is accepted into the acting school of the famous director Max Reinhardt. Only World War I interrupts his rapid rise to becoming an expressionist actor. Later, Granach emigrates to the USA and begins a film career in Hollywood. His autobiographical novel "Da geht ein Mensch" is read by Rudolf Jürgen Bartsch with the same captivating intensity as it was written.
