All about my mum

After the accidental death of her 17-year-old son Esteban, Manuela (Cecilia Roth) quits her job as a nurse and sets out to find the boy's missing father (Toni Canto), who now goes by Lola after undergoing gender reassignment surgery. During her journey, she encounters old acquaintances and must confront her past. She meets Huma Roja, an actress who played a tragic role in her son's death: Esteban was hit by a car while chasing after her for an autograph. Following Lola's trail, she comes across Sister María Rosa (Penélope Cruz), who was infected with HIV by Lola. Manuela befriends the women, takes a job with Huma Rojo, and steps in for a role in the play A Streetcar Named Desire. In the process, she forgets her search for Lola. At the funeral of the deceased Rosa, Manuela finally meets Lola and tells her about their shared son. In doing so, Manuela fulfills a heartfelt wish of her son, who wrote a screenplay titled Todo sobre mi madre before his death, expressing his regret at never having met his father.
