The world according to Welt. He was considered the German Lester Bangs, not only taking on Heinz-Rudolf Kunze but also venerating Buddy Holly and writing himself into a frenzy. Wolfgang Welt was a child of the Ruhr area, more specifically from the Bochum working-class district of Langendreer. From the early 1980s, he wrote outrageously subjective record reviews for various city and music magazines, candidly describing the reality of life in the Ruhr, engaging with literature and politics, and authored a total of four radically autobiographical novels in which he spared neither himself nor others. Peter Handke is among his fans, as is Bochum writer Frank Goosen, who has narrated some of Wolfgang Welt's best texts for this audiobook.
