1066 The Battle of England

The three-part BBC documentary depicts the events in England in 1066, culminating in the Battle of Hastings, when the two farmers Leofric and Tofi were not entirely voluntarily conscripted by Ordgar to military service. First of all, the south of the country had to be protected from a possible attack by the Normans. At the same time a Viking troop lands in the north, Ordgar marches north with his troops and beats the Vikings in the Battle of Stamford Bridge. In the second part the Normans invade England. Ordgar and his men have no time to recover from the battle, because a Norman army from France has landed in Sussex and has burned down the village of Crowhurst. In the third part of the documentary, the climax of the events in the Battle of Hastings occurs, in which Willhelm the Conqueror crushes the English under King Harold.
