Tested by Philipp: The Formula 1 stable from Lego
Every month we give away a new Lego product. This time Philipp has won the Mercedes Formula One racing team from Lego Speed Champions. This is his test report.
I came across the Competition from Galaxus by chance and immediately remembered my youth in Italy, where we used to recreate the Formula 1 races with Lego cars we had created ourselves. Of course, Scuderia Ferrari always won our races, that's how much childish imagination we were allowed back then.
In the past few months, I have taught my three-and-a-half-year-old son this imagination and the joy of playing with racing cars using Lego Duplo. The fact that these cars didn't look much like racing cars was less important. Instead, they were stable and could be reassembled easily, even by small children, after countless crashes.

I was then delighted to learn that we were the chosen ones in the competition and would be receiving the newly released Lego pack with the amazing racing cars and accessories.
The parcel has arrived
My son was very excited when I told him about it. When the parcel arrived, he couldn't contain himself and immediately set about opening it.

The assembly
I invited my eight-year-old Göttibueb to help with the assembly. The Legos are distributed in different bags. The individual pieces for each building element (car, garage, etc.) are in the same bag, making it easier to find the right piece.

We actually wanted to divide up the work and everyone should have assembled the contents of a bag themselves. However, as the instructions for all the components are contained in a single booklet, this was unfortunately not possible. It would have been better if there had been one set of instructions per bag. However, we were able to assemble the two cars at the same time and I was amazed at how long it took to put them together (40 minutes). My son was able to help us find the individual parts, but he could hardly wait until the cars were finished. The godson turned out to be a pro and was able to assemble the cars, as well as the rest, independently and without any effort.
Once the F1 cars were finished, they first had to be run in. However, Göttibueb quickly turned his attention to the remaining bags and assembled the pit wall, pit garage, camera crane, corner barriers and the grandstand. After about four hours, we were finished with everything.

Although I hadn't assembled a Lego set like this for over 20 years, it was very easy to handle. As usual, the instructions are very well laid out and the sets are extremely well designed.
What is unfortunately always a topic is the stickers supplied. At first I was sceptical as to whether my Göttibueb would really be able to do this, especially with the small stickers. But I was wrong, that also worked perfectly.
The playing
Once everything was finished, of course, everything had to be tried out. The boys raced the cars around the imaginary racetracks and staged various accidents. Fortunately, there is a workshop in the set where the cars could be repaired. I had wisely bought an extra racing car so that all three of us could play happily. There was no ranking ceremony yet, but we'll catch up on that later.

Conclusion
The package is really fun to build and play with. The Lego set is easy to assemble at the age of eight, and even earlier with a little help from dad.
I was particularly surprised by the attention to detail. It takes time to build, but you never get bored and it makes for a great, long afternoon together. One downside is that the instructions are not spread across different booklets.
It's good that there are two cars. This means that two children (or fathers who are young at heart) can play together and there are no arguments. The cars are relatively stable and are great for playing with. It's a shame that only one racing stable is included in the set, but you can buy the one from Scuderia Ferrari, which of course I had to do as a "half-Italian".
The Duplo racing cars are now parked in the cardboard garage. Galaxus was able to open up the fantastic world of "real" Legos to my son with this exciting gift. Thank you very much!
