Question about Joy-it USB multimeter
Can the JT-UM120 also "measure" just a USB-C cable? In other words, without being connected to a source (only cable connected from IN to OUT of the JT-UM120). I would like to test various cables to determine which PD version they support (thus which performance), which pins are connected and which data throughput is possible.
I don't think that would work as the device has no built in battery, so relies on the power coming from the Input. If you just looped the cable, then there would be no power to the device. Also, while cables provide a potential list of supported modes in some cases, it is the device on the end that actually ends up negotiating the power delivery, not the cable.
