The Japanese fan maple 'Atropurpureum', botanically known as Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum', is an impressive garden plant that provides fascinating colour accents all year round with its deep red foliage. The intensely coloured foliage is particularly impressive in spring and summer, turning a bright scarlet red in autumn.

With a growth height of up to 4 metres, it is ideal as a specimen plant or as a striking eye-catcher in Asian gardens, courtyards or near-natural plantings.

The 'Atropurpureum' thrives in both semi-shady and sunny locations and is hardy, so it also grows reliably in cooler regions. Its finely lobed leaves and changing colours throughout the seasons make it one of the most popular varieties of Japanese maple.

Container plants
