Weigelie Ruby

It is not surprising that the easy-care Weigelie is widely spread in the Far East. But its exuberant blossom is not only fascinating because the branches bend under the blooming glory. The flowers themselves are shaped like little bells that gracefully appear between the fresh green foliage and tower above it often enough. The rose-red splendour delights every garden owner from May to June and is an inspiration for a Japanese style garden corner.

Weigela Bristol Ruby grows bushy, dense and usually reaches a height of 2 - 2.5 m and grows up to 1.5 - 2 m wide. It usually grows 30 - 50 cm per year. The Weigela Bristol Ruby produces pinkish red flowers from May to June.

Although spring and autumn are the best planting seasons, container shrubs can be planted all year round. The planting hole should be twice as large and deep as the root ball. Remove the pot, loosen up the root ball, place the plant in the hole, fill it with soil, press it firmly and water it thoroughly.

This plant has a medium water requirement.

The Weigelie Bristol Ruby is relatively easy to care for and is especially recommended for inexperienced plant lovers.tip: Use slow release fertilizer in spring. This releases the nutrients slowly and continuously, so that the plant is evenly supplied over a longer period of time. Water less often, but thoroughly and penetratingly. This stimulates the plant roots to penetrate even into deeper soil layers and thus survive dry periods better. Make the so-called thinning cut: Remove only the shoots that are too dense.

Planting should take place from February to November, fertilising from March to April and mulching from early March to April. Watering should be done from May to September and pruning should be done from early July to mid-June.
