Weigelie Ruby

That the low-maintenance Weigela is widely spread in the Far East is no surprise. Its abundant floral display fascinates not only because the branches bend under the blooming glory. The flowers themselves are shaped like small bells, gracefully appearing among the fresh green foliage and often towering over it. The pink splendor delights every garden owner from May to June and serves as inspiration for a Japanese-style garden corner.

Weigela Bristol Ruby grows bushy and dense, typically reaching a height of 2 to 2.5 meters and a width of 1.5 to 2 meters. It usually grows 30 to 50 cm per year. The Weigela Bristol Ruby produces pink flowers from May to June.

Spring and autumn are the best planting times, but container plants can be planted year-round. The planting hole should be twice as large and deep as the root ball. Remove the pot, loosen the root ball, place the plant in the hole, fill it with soil, press down firmly, and water thoroughly.

This plant has a medium water requirement.

The Weigela Bristol Ruby is relatively low-maintenance and particularly recommended for inexperienced plant lovers. Tip: Use slow-release fertilizer in spring. This releases nutrients slowly and continuously, ensuring the plant is evenly supplied over a longer period. Water less frequently but thoroughly and deeply. This encourages the plant roots to penetrate deeper soil layers, helping them withstand dry periods better. Perform the so-called thinning cut: only remove the overcrowded shoots.

Planting should occur between February and November, fertilizing from March to April, and mulching from early March to April. Water the plant from May to September and prune it from early July to mid-June.
