Type I surge arrester. The Weidmüller surge protection device of the VPU I series protects low-voltage consumer systems and electronic devices against overvoltages caused by atmospheric discharges (lightning) or switching operations (transients). The VPU I series meets the requirements of Type I and Type II according to IEC 61643-11 and Type 1 and Type 2 according to EN 61643-11. The replacement surge arresters are coded and can only be inserted into the appropriate base.
