Tropica Tree chilli Rocoto ( Capsicum pubescens )

The Rocoto tree chilli (Capsicum pubescens) is a remarkable variety of chilli that originates from the high altitudes of Peru. This plant is characterised by its tree-like growth, which forms a woody stem and can reach heights of up to one metre. The Rocoto plant is not only high-yielding, but also visually appealing, with dark green, slightly hairy leaves and purple-coloured flowers. Its fruits are roundish and have a thick flesh that offers a unique combination of pungency (pungency level 6-8) and a sweet, fruity, slightly sour flavour. Rocoto peppers are widely used in Peruvian cuisine, especially in stuffed and gratinated dishes.
