Puffball Flower: With this plant, you will enjoy its wonderful blooms for years to come. It is perfect for balcony decoration. This almost delicate-looking container plant is a tough and long-lasting species that thrives and blooms well in our climate. It features oval fern-like leaves and bright red, spherical flowers that can grow up to 10 cm in size, resembling a puffball or a makeup brush. The flowers appear almost year-round, but are most abundant in the fall. It can be maintained at any size through pruning.

Origin: The puffball flower is native to tropical and subtropical America.

Cultivation: Seeds can be sown indoors year-round. Soak the seeds in room-temperature water for a few hours, then spread them on moist seedling soil and cover them very lightly with soil. At a temperature of 20° to 25° C, the first seeds will germinate within 10 to 14 days.

Location / Light: The location should be bright to fully sunny. Outdoors, protection from the intense midday summer sun is only necessary.

Care: Ideal soil is well-draining potting soil. Water generously in summer and feed the plant with pot plant fertilizer every 3 weeks from April to September. Even young plants should be pruned more frequently to encourage bushy growth.

Wintering: Overwinter the puffball flower in a bright and frost-free environment. Bright rooms with temperatures of 10° to 15° C are optimal. Water less during this time. Every 2 to 3 years, you should thin the plant by cutting out older branches.
