Product details
This basil differs from normal basil in several ways: it has a more intense flavor and retains its aroma even after baking. The flowers on the plant are fuzzier. It is ideal as an aromatic seasoning for pizza or pasta.
Interesting facts: The perennial Greek oregano is the best species of all oregano varieties. This 30-40 cm tall nectar, fragrance, and spice plant should not be missing from any herb collection. The plant was introduced to us from Italy, but the name is Greek and means "ornament of the mountains." The compact plant has small, oval leaves and produces many small, white or purple flowers in July and August. It can be kept in a pot, bowl, balcony box, or garden bed. The plant is hardy, and harvesting is possible from spring to autumn.
Application: Greek oregano is the ideal spice for pizza and meat. It is also essential for meat sauces, pasta, and stews. It has a strong pepper aroma and is one of the most popular spices from the Mediterranean. The almost withered leaves of Greek oregano taste excellent. Oregano stimulates the appetite, is mucous-suppressing, and aids digestion.
Origin: Native to Italy and Provence in southern France.
Growing: The seeds germinate well at 15°-22°C. After about 1-2 weeks, the first plants appear. Good potting soil or growing medium is suitable for sowing. If sowing outdoors, this should only be done in May, when the soil has warmed up slightly.
Care: Oregano loves sunny to full-sun locations and calcareous soil in the garden. A good potting soil is ideal for pots and other plants. Water evenly, but not too much.
Overwintering: Greek oregano is hardy and can survive outdoors.
