Product details
The coral shrub will be passed on to your descendants; it lives for over 100 years and produces more beautiful and larger flowers every year.
Attention: If planted as seed, it will only start flowering after 2 to 4 years. It is not very susceptible to insects, but spider mites or aphids can occur during the summer.
Please note: The seeds are poisonous!
Important: Be sure to use growing medium or coconut fiber, water often but do not overwater. No waterlogging! A drainage system is recommended to prevent this.
Fun Facts: The coral shrub is probably one of the most beautiful plants and is the easiest to care for and overwinter. It can be cut back in autumn like a perennial and winters both dry and dark. Its scarlet flowers are enchanting and become more numerous every year. The shrub grows so old that it can be passed on from generation to generation.
Origin: The main distribution is in Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina.
Cultivation: The seeds can be grown indoors all year round. Soak the seeds overnight in warm water and then place them 1 cm deep in moist soil. At a temperature of 20 to 25°C, the seeds will germinate after 2 to 4 weeks.
Location/Light: Sunny places and plenty of warmth are ideal for lush flowers. From April to November, the plant is also wonderful outdoors on south-facing sides.
Care: Use uniform soil for potting and water generously when the leaves emerge in April, as the leaves will turn yellow in dry conditions. However, avoid waterlogging. From June to September, the plant should be watered every 14 days. The flowers appear between July and September.
Wintering: When the leaves drop, the coral shrub can be cut back to the desired size. Temperatures should not be above 10°C; otherwise, the leaves will sprout too early and remain soft and fragile.
