Absinthe Wormwood Artemisia Absinthum / 150 seeds

Discover the fascinating absinthe herb - a real treat for the senses!

Let yourself be seduced by the mysterious green fairy and discover the aromatic properties and beguiling scent of absinthe.

The absinthe herb, also known as wormwood herb, is a perennial plant with grey-green foliage and yellow flowers.

It gives wormwood its characteristic flavour and also has a deterrent effect on pests.

This plant, which is about 1 metre high, comes from dry and sandy regions of North Africa, Eurasia and is also found in Central Europe.

In ancient times, wormwood was valued as a medicinal herb and found many uses.

Later, around 1900, absinthe became a fashionable drink in France and the fashionable drug of artists and workers.

It was cheaper than beer, but due to its high thujone content it often had devastating effects.

The spirit was made with wormwood, anise, fennel, lemon balm and other herbs and had a bright poisonous green colour. That is why it was called La Fee Verte - the green fairy.

But because of the negative consequences, absinthe was banned in Europe, except in Spain, where production continued. Finally, around the year 2000, it was put back on the market in a toned-down form.

Now it is back - the legendary green fairy.

And the beautiful herb of absinthe can be cultivated excellently in the front garden or in a tub.

You can bring the mysterious atmosphere of this plant into your own environment and let yourself be enchanted by its splendour.
