Wheel brushes with pin or hole are designed for working in hard-to-reach places. The smaller the diameter of the brush, the greater the possibility of penetrating inaccessible areas. Brushing with these brushes can precede the application of protective coatings, e.g. painting.

It can also precede the joining process, e.g. soldering and cold bonding. For more difficult work, such as preparing and cleaning welds, deburring, descaling, edge cleaning, wheel brushes with braided bristles should be used. Acid-resistant wire brushes are used for working on surfaces made of acid-resistant metals.
