Solid Oil Bearings
Instead of standard grease lubrication, the bearings contain a polymer matrix filled with oil. This technology from SKF, called Solid Oil, is particularly suitable for bearings used in environments that may be heavily exposed to dirt, dust, and water.
The polymer material is shaped into the free space of the bearing, creating a very small area around the rolling elements and raceways, allowing the bearing to rotate freely. The porous structure of the polymer matrix, which has millions of micropores, retains the lubricating oil through its surface tension. During operation, oil is released into the narrow spaces between the material and the bearing components, providing effective micro-lubrication.
