The inrush current limiter EBN 2 (rail-mounted version) is used when high inrush current peaks cause relay contacts to weld together. Electronic ballasts, fluorescent lamps, energy-saving lamps, etc., along with the use of compensation capacitors, can cause inrush current peaks of well over 100A. When the EBN 2 is connected downstream of the vulnerable contacts, current peaks are reduced to a non-critical value.
