The tomato originates from the company Sativa in Rheinau. The seeds are sourced from a controlled organic Bio Suisse cultivation and are also certified by ProSpecieRara, a Swiss non-profit foundation established in 1982 to preserve endangered livestock breeds and crop plants from extinction. The first seeds come from the canton of Thun in Switzerland, hence the name. The seeds have been available since 1980 and are classified as a so-called salad tomato.

This variety is robust and has low susceptibility to diseases. The smooth, round, yellow fruits weigh between 20 to 50 grams and have a refreshing taste. They are excellent for snacking or for fresh, crunchy salads, as they are very decorative. They can also thrive well on a sunny balcony or terrace. They grow indefinitely, provided the weather is favorable. This variety is known for its high yield. Due to its unlimited growth, it requires a specific planting distance.
