Cima di rapa (turnip greens) is a southern variety of cabbage with a strong flavor. The tender shoots and fleshy stems are harvested, similar to broccoli, before the flower buds open. Steam them with olive oil and garlic. It can be grown outdoors from mid-March to mid-August with a row spacing of 25-30 cm. Do not plant in isolation, and re-sowing should occur every three weeks.
