Aida adds zest to salads. Red rosettes (like 'Grumolo') in spring or reddish-green, narrow leaves in summer and autumn.
Sow from April to August for reddish-green chicory, and from June to August as rosette chicory for the spring harvest; plant in rows 20 cm apart and cover with 2 cm of soil.
Loosen the soil, water, and keep weed-free. Cut when the plants reach a height of 15-20 cm. If rosettes are desired, thin the plants to 5-8 cm apart and allow the leaves to grow. In winter, the foliage will freeze, and in spring, beautiful rosettes will emerge. If it tastes too bitter: finely chop and soak briefly in cold water.
