Rosemary has been known not only as a culinary herb for ages but also as a medicinal plant. For centuries, it has been a staple on every farm, making a lovingly tended cottage garden the perfect place for it. For the dedicated home cook, it can also be grown in a pot. The gray-green leaves and young shoots will be put to good use. Everything about rosemary exudes a wonderful fragrance, as even the purple flowers release a captivating aroma.

The leaves of rosemary have an aromatic, spicy flavor. Its lanceolate leaves are gray-green.

Rosmarinus officinalis grows bushy and typically reaches a height of 0.6 to 1.2 meters and can spread 0.6 to 1.2 meters wide.

Water regularly and allow the soil to dry out in between. It thrives best in normal garden soil in a sunny location. Rosemary is quite frost-resistant, but if the winter is particularly harsh, it will need winter protection.

Tip: Too much fertilizer can harm the herb's aroma! Provide your potted herbs with herb fertilizer once in the spring. If planted in the garden, a single application of compost at the start of the season is sufficient.
