Product details
These beautiful blue-gray grasses are among the most popular types. Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue', also known as blue fescue, is a very elegant ornamental grass and an excellent evergreen ground cover. Festuca 'Elijah Blue' resembles small cushions in the garden. These lovely round shapes consist of very fine, intensely ice-blue leaves that turn greener in winter. From late spring to summer, the plant produces narrow, blue-green flower spikes that turn golden brown. The ornamental grasses are hardy and perennial.
Care
Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' tolerates drought and maintains a beautiful color throughout the year. This ornamental grass retains its color even in winter and is hardy down to -22 degrees Celsius. Care involves removing old leaves once or twice a year. Planting can be done from spring (March) to autumn. When planted as a ground cover, a spacing of 20 cm between the ornamental grasses is recommended. Plant the ornamental grass in any moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' works well as a colorful solitary plant, but also in groups, for example as a ground cover or in a pot on the balcony or terrace.
