Plant in a Box Curcuma alismatifolia - Turmeric

The turmeric is a symbol of Asian nature and culture, often seen in countries like Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and India. The plant is also known as the Thai tulip due to its beautiful pink flowers. Additionally, the herb from several species of Curcuma has been an important part of Indian medicine for centuries. Today, the herb is still frequently used in many dishes. Unfortunately, this Curcuma does not produce herb, but the plant is still very attractive for indoor spaces! This Curcuma can bloom from June to September. The flowers are actually not real flowers but colored leaves designed to attract insects.

Care
The sunlight in the rainforests of Southeast Asia is much brighter, so the Curcuma in the Netherlands prefers a spot with plenty of sunlight. A window sill, for example, is an ideal place for the Curcuma. Keep an eye on the plant during the summer months, as the leaves can burn. If this happens, temporarily move the plant to a shadier location. Above 15 °C, the plant can even be placed outdoors! The Curcuma enjoys moist potting soil, so do not let it dry out. Ultimately, the Curcuma can grow up to 150–200 cm tall! Furthermore, the Curcuma Al Siam Splash is non-toxic, making it ideal if you have pets.

The plants are delivered with a height of 80-100 cm, measured including the pot. The plants come in a growing pot with a diameter of 19 cm.
