Plant in a Box Bougainvillea

The bougainvillea is a beautiful, eye-catching climbing plant with colourful paper leaves. What could be better than placing the bougainvillea against a light-coloured wall to make the colours stand out even more? With its bright pink colour, it is a plant that conveys a real summer feeling. The bougainvillea is originally from Brazil. However, it is also widespread in southern Europe, making it a true Mediterranean plant. To maintain its beautiful colours, the plant needs plenty of sunlight. The more sunlight that falls on its leaves, the more vibrant the colours become.

Care
The bougainvillea needs sunny weather to flower beautifully. However, if the plant is in full sun, it needs plenty of water during the warm summer months, daily during the hottest period. Always make sure that the water can drain away through holes in the bottom of the pot, as the plant does not like wet feet. This is of course not necessary in full soil, but the disadvantage of full soil is that it is difficult to bring the plant indoors in winter. Overwintering the bougainvillea indoors is necessary to ensure it flowers again the following year, as the plant is not hardy.
