Product details

The Aphelandra botanica originally comes from the subtropical regions of America. It is also known as the zebra plant because its remarkable leaves have a dark green color with white stripes. The plant is most commonly kept for its leaves; however, it can also bloom strikingly. When it does, the Aphelandra produces yellow flowers that resemble those of a bromeliad.

Care
Room temperature is important for the Aphelandra botanica. It prefers a higher temperature and plenty of warmth throughout the year. In summer, bright light without direct sunlight is preferred, making a north-facing window ideal. The Aphelandra also prefers high humidity, so be sure to mist the leaves regularly, but not during the flowering period, as the flowers may start to rot. It is sufficient to water the zebra plant once a week, ensuring that the soil dries out between waterings. Additionally, it is crucial to avoid leaving water in the pot to prevent the roots from rotting. Be cautious with pets, as it is toxic to them.
