Product details

This giant Alocasia Zebrina is an extremely popular and well-known houseplant. Alocasia originally comes from Asia, where the plant grows in the rainforest. But nowadays this elegant tropical plant with its fantastically striped stems can often be found indoors. These stems are black and white, just like a zebra. The unusual stems in combination with the beautiful green leaves are characteristic of Alocasia. The beautiful heart-shaped leaves are also reminiscent of the floppy ears of an elephant. For this reason, the plant is also called "elephant's ear".

Care
Due to its origin in tropical areas, Alocasia Zebrina prefers a humid environment. It is therefore important to drink small sips of water frequently. It is preferable not to give cold tap water; the Alocasia is quite sensitive. Preferably place the plant in a light spot, but not directly in the sun. It is also good to know that as soon as the Alocasia produces new leaves, an older leaf may turn yellow and droop. It is best to cut these off just above the ground. Finally, the Zebrina can grow leaves up to 150 cm wide. Be careful, however, as the Alocasia Zebrina is poisonous to humans and pets.
