The use of identification vests in operations has become established among fire departments, emergency services, and disaster relief organizations in recent years. The identification vests serve to indicate roles during operations. Leadership roles and important specialist functions are clearly visible through the wearing of the various vests.
Typically, the following colors/functions are assigned:
Red = Group Leader
Yellow = Incident Commander
Green = Specialist Advisor
Blue = Senior Emergency Physician
White = Section Leader
Black and White Checkered = Respiratory Protection Monitor
These identification vests feature two radio holder attachments with adjustable securing loops, holding loops for antennas, and clamp loops for microphones in the shoulder and chest areas. There are also two chest pockets for A6 notepads and hook-and-loop fasteners on the chest and back for name tags. On the back, two hook-and-loop name tags (40 x 8 cm) can be attached, and the chest area measures 12 x 2.5 cm. The vest is secured to the jacket using hook-and-loop fasteners. The size of the vest is adjustable. Additionally, the vest is flame-retardant according to EN 533.
