Light requirement:
Alocasia Polly, also known as elephant ear or African mask, is a tropical plant known for its striking, arrow-shaped leaves. Its light requirement is an important factor for healthy growth. Indirect, bright light: Alocasia Polly thrives best in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can burn its leaves, so the plant should be protected from direct sunlight. A spot near a window with filtered light or behind a transparent curtain is ideal. Lack of light: If there is too little light, Alocasia Polly can become susceptible to diseases and grow more slowly. The leaves may lose their vibrant colour and become smaller. In such cases, you should change the location or use additional artificial light.

Watering:
Water regularly during the growing season (spring & summer) to keep the soil evenly moist, but not wet. This usually means every 1-2 weeks, depending on the conditions in your home. During the dormant period (autumn and winter) you can reduce watering. Allow the top layer of soil to dry between waterings. Water approximately every 3-4 weeks or as required. Water thoroughly until water emerges from the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot. Make sure that excess water drains away and does not remain in the saucer to prevent root rot. Tip: Check the moisture level of the soil before watering again. Stick a finger about 2-3 cm deep into the soil. If the soil feels dry to the touch, it is time to water. If it is still moist, wait a few more days.
