An Indian health source
The Indians knew what they were eating. Saskatoons have very high levels of anthocyanins and antioxidants. But they are also very rich in calcium and iron. I wonder if the Indians used it to combat their late spring fever. No, it was too late for that, because the vitamin-rich food only became ripe at midsummer! But also in summer you can finally use more power!

Amelanchier alnifolia
The original form of the Saskatoon berry is at home in the North American prairie. In Canada, over the past 30 years, cultivars with better growth, flowering and fruit characteristics have been selected. The name Saskatoon is derived from the Indian name for the shrub.
