Evergreen ornamental shrub with glossy dark green leaves and dense, slow growth. It can thrive in sunny to partially shaded, or even fully shaded locations. It grows well in any normal garden soil. It prefers moisture but does not tolerate waterlogging.
Buxus sempervirens is commonly used for edging, as a hedge plant, for topiary, or as a container plant due to its suitability for pruning. This boxwood variety is particularly hardy in winter. Boxwood can live for several hundred years, with some specimens reaching heights of up to 6 meters.
