Product details
Targeted research and development, along with over 40 years of practical experience, make Silatop a top product for wood preservation. Silatop provides a decorative and durable weather protection, penetrating deeply into the wood, offering water repellency and moisture regulation (breathable), while showcasing the natural wood structure and grain beautifully with a clear surface. The use of lightfast, nanoscale iron oxide pigments effectively protects the wood from damage caused by UV light. Silatop is equipped with active ingredients that protect the coating against fungal infestations (e.g., blue stain, mold), algae, rot, and wood pests (e.g., house longhorn beetle). The wood to be treated must be dry (not over 16% moisture content), clean, and free from paint and wax. Resinous and exotic woods must first be cleaned with a cleaning thinner. Old stain coatings should be lightly sanded. Severely weathered wood parts must be sanded down to healthy wood. The color depends on the absorbency and type of wood, which is why a test application is recommended.
