Product details
Targeted research and development as well as over 40 years of practical experience make Silatop a CH top product in the conservation of wood. Silatop provides decorative and durable weather protection, penetrates deep into the wood, has a water-repellent effect, regulates moisture (breathable) and, thanks to its veil-free surface, brings out the natural structure of the wood and grain (positive tinting) in a particularly attractive way. By using lightfast, nanoscale iron oxide pigments, the wood is effectively protected against destruction by UV light. Silatop is equipped with active ingredients that protect the coating against attack by fungi (e.g. blue stain, mould), algae, rot and wood pests (e.g. house longhorn). The wood to be treated must be dry (not more than 16% wood moisture), clean, free of paint and wax. Resinous and exotic woods must first be cleaned with cleaning thinner. Lightly sand old glaze coatings. Heavily weathered wooden parts must be sanded to a healthy base. The colour depends on the absorbency and the type of wood, so a trial coat is recommended.
