Product details

The blue hydrangea is an exceptionally pretty and appealing plant. Where should it be placed if not in a cottage garden? It can also be wonderfully used to create a blue-themed flower bed. Just be sure that it is not positioned in the sunny part of the flower border. Then it will gratefully contribute a lush part to the group planting.

The hydrangea produces blue flowers from June to September. The flowers are cup-shaped and arranged in beautiful clusters.

Hydrangea macrophylla, blue, grows in a bushy form and typically reaches a height of 1 to 1.5 meters and can spread up to 1 to 1.5 meters wide. It usually grows 15 to 50 cm per year. Habit: small shrub.

The hydrangea is deciduous. Its oval and serrated leaves are medium green. The plant requires a lot of water. Do not let the soil dry out. It thrives optimally in normal garden soil in partially shaded to shaded locations.

The hydrangea has good frost resistance. Planting: March to October.

Tip:

  • In spring, only remove old flower heads and dead wood.
  • Water this plant only with lime-free water. Rainwater is particularly suitable for this purpose.
  • Blue-flowering hydrangeas often bloom pink over the years. To prevent this, add the aluminum responsible for the blue coloring using the hydrangea blue available at garden centers.
