Teak is a robust and extremely weather-resistant hardwood, which stands out in its new state due to its distinctive honey-brown color. When untreated teak wood is exposed to the elements, this honey color gradually changes to a silver-grey patina, which is particularly characteristic of naturally aged teak wood. Particles that settle on the surface from the air and rain can lead to discoloration and a reaction of the wood.
