The Gränsfors axe sharpening stone is made from ceramic abrasives, whose grain structure is designed to optimally meet the needs for coarse and fine sharpening. It has a coarser side with a grain size of 180 for damage caused by rough wear, as well as a finer side with a grain size of 600 for fine sharpening. The composition of the grain makes the stone durable and tough. Unlike natural stones, ceramic sharpening stones offer a more precise grit. The stone is round and flat in shape, with beveled edges to provide a smooth transition. The fine side makes up two-thirds of the thickness, as this side is typically used and worn the most. The stone is usually used with water but can also be used dry. The sharpening stone comes with a protective rubber base.
