Gold Label expanded clay is made from various high-quality clay materials and is fired in an open kiln. The kiln is fueled with highly pure combustion materials, ensuring that no heavy metals or other impurities are present in the expanded clay. The size of 8-16 mm provides stability, and the uneven, rough surface offers excellent grip for roots and an ideal substrate for beneficial bacteria and fungal cultures. The porous structure of the expanded clay boasts a high water retention capacity and is suitable for both ebb and flow systems as well as capillary irrigation systems.

Tips:

• Rinse the expanded clay balls thoroughly before first use and allow them to soak in clean water.
• After each cycle, rinse the hydroton with pH-corrected water and enzymes.
• Disinfect with hydrogen peroxide in case of disease occurrence.
• Regardless of any disease occurrence, disinfect with hydrogen peroxide once a year.
• Adding beneficial bacteria and fungal strains is highly recommended.
• The recommended pH level of the nutrient solution is between 5.5 and 6.5, with many growers preferring a pH around 5.8.
• If you are using a recirculating system, the nutrient solution must be changed weekly, and the tank should be cleaned.
