Product details
The Forgefix Nyloc hex nut features a nylon component that effectively secures the nut onto the screw. The nylon part has a smaller inner diameter than the actual nut. This design fixes the nut in place by compressing the nylon tightly around the screw when tightened. Unlike a standard lock washer, the Nyloc nut prevents the nut from loosening due to vibrations, as the nylon is firmly wedged into the bolt thread and provides resistance against rotation when tightened. The nuts are zinc-coated for increased corrosion resistance. Their hexagonal shape is designed to be driven with a wrench, delivering excellent torque. Application: Where a permanent fastening is required and loosening due to movement or vibration must be prevented. Can be used for most screw products, including HT screws, lock screws, threaded rods, etc. Zinc coatings prevent oxidation of the protected metal and provide a longer-lasting surface. This is achieved by forming a barrier and acting as a sacrificial anode when that barrier is damaged. Zinc oxide is a fine, white powder that (unlike iron oxide) does not cause degradation of the surface integrity of the substrate upon formation. When intact, zinc oxide can act as a barrier against further oxidation, similar to the oxide layers of aluminum and stainless steel.
