Strelitzia Reginae belongs to the family of Strelitzia and is also called bird of paradise or parrot flower. It owes its name to the special shape of its colorful flowers, which in profile resemble the beak and feathers of a bird of paradise. Its leaves are large and of a rich green. This unique plant is native to South Africa, but it is also commonly found in the wild today in the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores. Despite its magnificent flowers, the bird of paradise flower is very easy to care for. It blooms from spring to summer, even as early as February with proper care. It bears colorful, variegated and bright orange flowers with deep purple accents
