Product details
Hydrangeas are true beauties. The flower, arranged in a panicle, is surrounded by a variety of bracts. This creates a magnificent, hemispherical flower head that enriches any garden. Originally, hydrangeas were native to China, Japan, and parts of North and South America. They prefer to grow in partial shade, although some species can also be planted in full sun. It is important to note that the soil should be loose, rich in humus, moist, and slightly acidic (with a pH value between 5.0 and 6.0). Their botanical name "Hydrangea" translates to "water carrier," as an adequate water supply is essential for hydrangeas. Fertilization can be done with special hydrangea or rhododendron fertilizer, or with organic fertilizers such as cattle manure pellets, but only until the end of July, so that the new shoots can mature in the fall.
