Product details

Although the name suggests otherwise, the Hawaiian palm (Brighamia insignis) is not a palm. It belongs to the bellflower family (Campanulaceae) and is actually a succulent. It is also known as the volcano palm. Originally, it comes from Hawaii, where it grows in rock crevices and on basalt cliffs near the sea. Unfortunately, its population in the wild is declining, making this highly decorative houseplant difficult to obtain. The Hawaiian palm undergoes a resting phase during the summer, during which it sheds its leaves.
