The Eltako decentralized sensor input PL-SM8 is a powerline sensor input with 8 channels. Its dimensions are 53 x 43 mm with a depth of 25 mm, suitable for installation in 58 mm switch boxes. It features 8 sensor inputs with internal low voltage and has a standby loss of only 0.5 watts. The input is used for controlling and switching at various locations. Only potential-free switching elements may be used.

For address assignment, there are two rotary switches on the front: The left rotary switch determines the group address g with 16 alphabetical values from A to P. The right rotary switch determines the element address e with 16 numerical values from 0 to 15. Above that, there is a slide switch serving as a configuration switch.

• Position 0: Each 2 adjacent inputs operate as direction buttons for UP/DOWN or ON/OFF.
• Position 1: All sensor inputs operate individually as normally closed contacts.
• Position 2: All sensor inputs operate individually as push buttons.

This setting applies to all 8 inputs and can only be changed after a reset. To the left of the rotary switches is a red LED that indicates all activities. Next to it is the reset button, and to the right is a service pin.

The functions are according to the operating manual. The upper connection terminals are plug terminals for conductor cross-sections from 0.2 mm² to 1.5 mm². The addresses of the 8 inputs can also be freely assigned using the PC software SIENNA-Professional if necessary. The upper socket strip with 9 wires with ferrules is plugged in.
