The switching characteristic is determined by comparing the virtual lamp power level (VDAP) with 4 switching thresholds. The virtual lamp power level (VDAP) corresponds to the dimming value of a DALI electronic ballast and is subject to the corresponding properties (limited by MINLEVEL and MAXLEVEL, dimming speed by Fadetime and Faderate). For each dimming direction, there are 2 switching thresholds used for comparison with the virtual lamp power level. Only the switching threshold valid for the current virtual dimming direction is evaluated. A threshold with the value MASK is inactive and is not used for comparison. Fading allows for on and off delays to be realized. The DALI-RM16 is powered by the DALI bus.
