PWM DC 8 A, 12–32 V dc. The motor drive EM-174 has been developed for speed control of DC motors. The unit regulates the motor voltage, allowing for the use of an unregulated supply voltage. A potentiometer or a direct voltage signal can be used to determine the speed value. The direction of rotation changes when the input control value becomes negative or when the input control voltage signal is applied to the direction input. The unit features a positive and a negative reference signal for the use of a potentiometer, meaning the potentiometer can also be used for driving in both directions. The motor stops at the midpoint of the potentiometer. The defined value range can be scaled to the adjustment range. During a change of direction, the controller waits until the motor has stopped before starting the drive in the reverse direction, thus avoiding peak current during direction changes. The current limit can be set with a potentiometer or a direct voltage signal to protect the motor and mechanics from overloads. The starting speed can be limited with an acceleration ramp, allowing the motor voltage to be increased slowly as desired. The ramp time is set with a potentiometer. EM-174 can be optimized for use with a voltage of 12 or 24 V. Bidirectional, no brake, controlled direction change, +/-10 V or 0-10 V, smooth start ramp, adjustable current limit, load compensation (IR-comp).
