Nemo Armchair. For Milanese architect and designer Fabio Novembre, playing with the human form is an endlessly inspiring theme that regularly influences his seating designs. This high garden armchair for the Italian manufacturer Driade is dedicated to the most mysterious of all body parts – the human face: its shape, reminiscent of a classic theater mask, shields the seeker of tranquility from the outside world. The raised, enveloping backrest allows for cozy lounging at a comfortable seat height of 41 cm, while the nose has been thoughtfully filled in by Fabio Novembre, ensuring it does not serve as an additional ledge. However, the two eye openings still allow for engagement with the happenings behind. Due to its construction as a single-piece cast object, the Nemo armchair by Driade is extremely durable and can be used outdoors without restrictions. The more than double price of the red and metallic variants of the Nemo armchair is justified by Driade through the refinement with an extremely elaborate, high-gloss, and durable acrylic coating.
