Bonsai.ch Prunus incisa Fuji Cherry cm
Product details
The product image of this bonsai is a snapshot. Its condition and appearance change with the seasons: bare in winter, the first flowers appear in spring, shortly followed by the leaves. In summer, the bonsai is fully leafed out and may bear fruit, while in autumn, the leaves begin to change color and eventually fall off, leading to winter dormancy.
You will receive the bonsai as shown in the image.
Prunus incisa originates from Japan. It blooms in March/April, with white flowers featuring a pink calyx. In late summer, the fruits, measuring 6-8 mm, ripen.
The Fujikirsche as a bonsai delights with its floral splendor in spring and its bright orange to red autumn foliage.
Care: Like other Prunus species, it prefers a sunny location and should be kept outdoors year-round. In winter, even though the Fujikirsche is hardy, it should be protected during prolonged frost periods, for example, with a coconut mat. In summer, the root ball must never dry out, while in winter, watering should only be done on frost-free days. Watering can be easily done with a watering can with a long spout or a fine spray. Fertilize with organic fertilizer pellets that have a higher potassium content for flower formation. The Fujikirsche can be repotted every two to three years in early spring, before blooming.
Design: For fine branching, regularly trim the shoots back to one or two leaves or buds with bonsai scissors. Remove branches and stubs using a bud or concave cutter. Cover cut wounds of about half a centimeter with tree paste to prevent the entry of bacteria and fungal infections. The branches can be shaped by wiring with anodized aluminum wire. Repotting should be done every two years with root pruning.
