Product details

The product image of this bonsai is a snapshot. Its condition and appearance change with the seasons: in winter, it is leafless; in spring, the first flowers appear, shortly followed by the leaves. In summer, the bonsai is fully leafed out and may bear fruit, while in autumn, the leaves begin to change color and eventually fall off, leading into winter dormancy.

You will receive the bonsai shown in the image.

The plum bonsai blooms in April/May with white flowers.

Care: Like other Prunus species, it prefers a sunny location, outdoors year-round. In winter, even though it is frost-resistant, it should be protected during prolonged frost periods, for example, with a coconut mat. In summer, the root ball must never dry out, while in winter, watering should only be done on frost-free days. Watering can be easily done with a watering can with a long spout and nozzle. Fertilize with organic fertilizer pellets that have a high potassium content for flower formation. The plum can be repotted every two to three years in early spring, before blooming.

Design: For fine branching, regularly trim the shoots back to one or two leaves or buds with bonsai scissors. Remove branches and stubs with a knob or concave cutter. Cover cut wounds of about half a centimeter with tree paste to prevent the entry of bacteria and fungal infections. The branches can be shaped by wiring with anodized aluminum wire. Repotting should be done every two years with root pruning.
