Product details
Ligustrum sinensis is native to the subtropical regions of Asia, particularly China and Vietnam. The Chinese privet as a bonsai is easy to care for and grows quickly, but it requires more frequent watering and regular fertilization.
Care:
The Chinese privet prefers a bright windowsill and, like all other indoor bonsais, a spot outdoors during the warm summer months. However, it should be brought back inside by the end of summer, as temperatures should not fall below 15°C. During the darker winter months, it is important to ensure adequate light.
To combat dry heating air and pest infestations, a large saucer with wet gravel can be helpful. Daily misting of the leaves with a spray bottle is also beneficial. The soil should never dry out completely; keep the root ball evenly moist. The warmer the temperature, the higher the water consumption. Fertilization is done with a bonsai fertilizer every 10 to 14 days during the growing season, and only every 3 to 4 weeks in winter.
